Preparations for the European games goes according to plan, and all the sports facilities will be commissioned by the end of April. Baku European games - 2015 is a significant event in the history of our country. We plan to hold the European Games at the Olympic Games. To achieve this goal we have set ourselves some goals.
According to news agency AZERTAC, with these words the Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov, an event dedicated to preparedness of athletes, held at the headquarters of the operational committee of the European Games Baku - 2015.
Rahimov said that in preparation for the European Games held significant works.
Commissioned new sports facilities, some reconstructed. Repairs carried out by Heydar Aliyev in the Arena and the Palace of Sports of Baku city, changing their appearance. New sports facilities are ready for operation. In late April, it will be delivered the last sports facility - "Baku Sport City".
The Minister stressed that the essential work undertaken in the field of security and transport.
It is envisaged to attract up to 18,000 volunteers. Five thousand of them will take part in various ceremonies of the games. Also prepared by the viewing program with the residents of the capital will be attracted to the competition. Along with the photo competition for viewers provided interesting and diverse arrangements.
The Minister noted the successful performance of Azerbaijani sportsmen at the Olympic Games, said that repetition of this success is one of the tasks.
Further, the Chief of the Ministry of Mirkamil Rahimov spoke about the preparation of athletes for the European games. He noted that the preparatory process of the athletes was conducted in three stages. During these three stages athletes took part in various training camps, to measure themselves at international tournaments. The final stage will be completed in June this year. At this stage, our athletes participated in 24 international competitions, have won 16 gold, 13 silver and 29 bronze medals. The athletes participated in 18 training sessions.
M. Rahimov also stated that Azerbaijan holds large-scale events at the highest level, also noted that addressed the issues of education and military service of athletes preparing for the European games.
