Our athletes won 4 medals at the World Karate Cadet, Junior and U21 Championships

     Azerbaijani karatekas won 4 medals at the 9th World Karate Cadet, Junior and U21 Championships in the Indonesian capital - Jakarta.

     Irina Zaretskaya (age group 18-21 years, weight category -68 kg, coach Denis Morozov) earned the world champion title at the last championship, this time won the silver medal. Eldar Mamedrzaev (age group 16-17 years, -61 kg), Fidan Teymurova (age group 16-17 years -47 kg) also won the silver medals, Gummet Bakhshaliyev (57 kg) won bronze medal for our team.

     Murad Hadjizade (age group 16-17 years, + 76 kg) and Farida Abiyeva (-61 kg, age group 18-21 years) have conceded defeat in the fight for the bronze medals. Roman Heydarov (kata, age group 16-17 years) and Sarhan Guluzade (+84, age group 18-21 years) in a meeting for the semi-final were defeated due to biased judging.

     With this result Azerbaijan took the 14th place among 37 countries-medalists. The World Championship hosted 1420 athletes from 91 countries.

     Before the competition Vugar Karimov, Renad Aliyev and Nargiz Mehdiyeva successfully passed the exams to the Judging Committee of the World Karate Federation (WKF), raising their categories. In addition, the judge of the international class Yusif Mammadov extended its license for another four years.

     The President of the Azerbaijan National Karate Federation, Yashar Bashirov expressed his satisfaction with the results of the competition. According to him, certain circumstances prevented from the achievement of better results. The representatives of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Indonesia throughout the competition were close to our athletes, in order to support them. The National Karate Federation of Azerbaijan is particularly grateful to Ambassador Tamerlan Garayev.
