Fidan Teymurova won the silver medal in the junior competitions in the age group 14-15 years (-47 kg) at the 9th World Karate Cadet, Junior and U21 Championships, held in Jakarta, Indonesia. Student of Seymour Khudaverdiyev (personal trainer) and Anar Allahverdiyev (juniors coach in the age group 14-15 years) gained a victory with a big score over four rivals, reached the final, losing to the Egyptian athlete with the score 0:1. This is the first such result among juniors.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the World Championship the Indonesian government spokesman Gatot Nurmanto and the President of the World Karate Federation Antonio Espinosa wished success to young promising athletes. Artistic presentation continued with the dances, reflecting local traditions, karatekas performances and scenes. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Indonesia Tamerlan Garayev and the President of the Azerbaijan National Karate Federation Yashar Bashirov attended the official opening ceremony of the World Championship in order to support our young athletes. On the first day of the competition Azerbaijan, winning the gold medal, taken 9-10 places in the overall standings among 18 countries. The World Championship will continue for 4 days. In the championship will take part 1441 karate athletes from 91 countries.
