From the "Bosporus" with 19 medals

Our karatekas have won 19 medals at the 30th International Bosphorus Karate Tournament in Istanbul. Our athletes with 6 gold, 3 silver and 10 bronze medals took the 2nd place in the tournament among 25 countries.

 Firdovsi Farzaliyev (-60 kg), Niyazi Aliyev (-67 kg), Rafael Agayev (-75 kg), Ayhan Mamaev (-84 kg), Asiman Gurbanly (+84 kg) and Rovshan Aliyev (kata) became the winners of the competition. Tural Agalarzade (-67 kg), Shahin Atamov (+84 kg) and Ismail Guliyev (kata) rose to the second place of the honorable pedestal. Farid Savadov (children aged 11, -35 kg), Huseyin Mammadli (children aged 13, -55 kg), Hasan Aliyev (youth aged 16-17, -55 kg), Samir Mammadov (-75 kg ), Orhan Geidarli (+84 kg), Tural Baldjanly (kata), Nurana Aliyeva (-50 kg), Farida Abieva (-61 kg) as well as in the kumite team competition Ilaha Gasimova, Farida Abiyeva and Nurana Aliyeva, in kata Rovshan Aliyev, Tural Baljanly and Ismail Guliyev won bronze.

 In the traditional tournament in different age categories 1502 sportsmen took part. At the opening ceremony of the tournament, the President of the Turkish Karate Federation, Esed Deligasan presented a memorable gift to the President of the Azerbaijan National Karate Federation (ANKF) and member of the Technical Committee of the World Karate Federation (WKF) Yashar Bashirov, invited to the tournament as a honored guest. The main national team, continuing preparations for the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games, which will be held in Baku in May, will arrive to Dubai in the last days of the month to participate in the prestigious 1 Premier League Karate tournament.
