Azerbaijani karatekas won two more medals on the last day of the next European Junior and Youth Championship in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria.

Irina Zaretskaya (athletes under the age of 21, -61 kg, personal trainer Denis Morozov) became European Champion and Asiya Malikova (athletes under the age of 21, -50 kg, personal trainer Anar Allahverdiyev) won the second place. Before them Murad Hajizade (youth aged 16-17, +76 kg, personal trainer Rafael Mamedov) and Ayla Rzazade (juniors aged 14-15, - 54 kg, personal trainer Seymur Khudaverdiev) won bronze.

Fidan Teymurova (youth aged 16-17, -48 kg), Hasan Aliyev (youth aged 16-17, -55 kg) and Eljan Mammadrzayev (athletes under the age of 21, -60 kg) in the decisive match for bronze medal missed their chance. Jeyhun Ismayilov (juniors aged 14-15, kata), Tale and Tural Yagubov brothers (respectively, among juniors aged 14-15, -52 kg and -63 kg) became the seventh.

With this result, Azerbaijan ranked 13th among 34 countries that won the medal. At 44 European Championship among 14-15 year-old juniors and 9th among athletes under the age of 21 from 50 countries participated 1147 karate. Despite the fact that the head coach of juniors and youth, Honored Trainer Anar Allahverdiyev, as well as head coach of athletes under the age of 21 Shahin Khudaverdiyev expected better results of the team, insufficient experience in the competitions became the result of this.

One of the memorable moments of the official competition was the appointment of an international class judge Vugar Kerimov an assistant to the manager of the tatami.

The delegation participating in the European Championship under the leadership of the President of the Azerbaijan National Karate Federation and member of the Technical Committee of the World Karate Federation Yashar Bashirov will return to Baku on March 21.
