Irina Zaretskaya (-68 kg), who is one of the favorites of the national team, won the silver medal of the 1 Premier League in Karate in the capital of France - Paris. Niyazi Aliyev (-67 kg) missed the opportunity in the last fight for the bronze medal.
Due to the financial difficulties, only a few members of the national team took part in the 1 Premier League in Karate, which is one of the prestigious tournaments of the World Karate Federation (WKF). Roman Heydarov (kata) because of health problems, Sarhan Guluzade (+84 kg), because of injury, could not continue participating.
In the delegation led by the President of the Azerbaijan National Karate Federation and member of the WKF Technical Committee Yashar Bashirov, there were also international judges Yusif Mammadov and Anar Allahverdiyev, who were among the judges who run the tournament.
