The next Congress of the World Karate Federation was held prior to the start of the 22nd World Championship in Bremen. At the congress, which was attended by representatives from 120 countries, was heard video address of the President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach. He said that the sport of karate, particularly popular among sports, is one of worthy candidates for inclusion in the Olympic Program and activity in this direction is shown up more intensively.
After the opening speech of WKF President Antonio Espinos, the Congress continued its work addressing the issues on the agenda. On the eve of the Congress, the President of the National Karate Federation Yashar Bashirov and the First Vice-President Ilham Gasymzadeh had useful discussions in meetings with leaders of Karate Federation of various countries. Prior to the beginning of the Congress, leaflets representing the development of Azerbaijan in various spheres were distributed in the venue and gifts from the general sponsor - the International Bank of Azerbaijan were given.
