Azerbaijani karateks returned home having won bronze medals in one of the most prestigious tournaments of the Premier League of the World Karate Federation – «Open De Paris». Among the members of our team, whose main goal is the Baku 2015 European Games, Shakhin Atamov (+84 kg) and Tural Agalarzade (-67 kg) won the bronze medal in the tournament of the Premier League, which is considered a small world championship.
Favorites of the competition in their respective weight categories - Rafael Aghayev (-75 kg) and Rafiz Hasanov (-67 kg) at the decisive moment faced with unfair refereeing and could not get to the number of the medalists. Rafael Aghayev, who missed the World and European Championships, as well as several official competitions last year because of injuries and operations, won the medalist of the last World and Europe Championships, as well as multiple World and European champion Luigi Busa, which is its main enemy, thereby Rafael has once again proved that truly he is the «diamond» of the world of karate.
According to the results of the Premier League tournament, Azerbaijan took 17th 23 countries that have managed to win medals. The first three places were taken by the French, Egyptian and Japanese athletes. The prestigious tournament was attended by 929 athletes from 46 countries. The next international competition for our national team will be the Premier League tournament in Holland.
