Asiman Gurbanli, who missed six months due to an injury sustained at the 5th Tournament «Baku Open», held in September last year, marked his return to the tatami by a silver medal. A Gurbanly (+84 kg), participating in the prestigious tournament of Premier League series of the World Karate Federation (WKF) in the Egyptian city Sharm al-Sheikh, defeated three Egyptian athletes, as well as two representatives of the Turkish national team - Yasser Shahintekin and Enes Erkan with a big score, our athlete lost only in the final battle to the team leader of Egypt Ossama Mansour.
The tournament, held in Sharm al-Sheikh, was attended by 464 athletes from 38 countries. Our team shared 8-10 places among 15 teams that have managed to win medals. The next official tournament, in which Azerbaijani karate athletes will participate, is 50th in Istanbul.
