Our karate athletes went to the 50th European Championship

     The national team will take part in the 50th 19-22 in Istanbul. Head coach of the team, honored coach Rahman Hatamov, unlike last year's composition, which became European Champion, this time included more promising athletes in the team. Head coach will be helped by his assistant, senior coach Rashad Huseynov, fitness coach Oktay Mammadov, senior coach of the juniors Shahin Khudaverdiev, senior coach of the cadets Anar Allahverdiyev and Denis Morozov.

     For the first time our national team will perform in full composition in kumite competitions. Rafael Aghayev (-75 kg), who missed the previous European Championship due to injury, will try to win his next title. Firdovsi Farzaliev (-60 kg), Niyazi Aliyev (-67 kg), Ayhan Mamaev (-84) and Shahin Atamov (-61 kg), as well as our girls - Nurana Aliyeva (-50 kg), Ilaha Gasymova (-55 kg), Farida Abiyeva (-61 kg), Irina Zaretsky (-68 kg) and Aytan Samedli (+68 kg) will try their luck in the individual events. In the team competition Tural Agalarzade, Panah Abdullayev Asiman Gurbanli, Orhan Heydarli, Rafael Agaev and Shahin Atamov will enter the tatami. Also in the team competition will perform girls. Senior Kata Coach Vahid Ayvazov and this time gave preference to Tural Baldjanly and Adilya Gurbanova. Among the tournament serving referees will be our international referees - Jahangir Babaev, Yusif Mammadov, Renad Aliyev, Vugar Karimov and Nargiz Mehdieva. Secretary for Media and Public Relations Sanan Magerramov will directly inform the fans and the press on the results of the competition by text stories, photos and video broadcasts on the official website of the Federation and Facebook. The European Championship, which will take place in Sinan Erdem sports gym, in Istanbul, will be attended by 433 athletes from 49 countries. A special feature of the 50th opportunity of winning a license for the First Baku - 2015 European Games and the fact that for the first time such competitions on this basis are held on the continent.

     The delegation that will depart on March 16 to the anniversary European Championship, will be headed by the President of Azerbaijan National Karate Federation Yashar Bashirov and First Vice-President of the Federation, the official representative of the General Sponsor of the International Bank of Azerbaijan, Ilham Gasymzadeh.

     In early May 2014, the Azerbaijani karatekas won 1 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals at the  European Championship, held in the Finnish city of Tampere. Shakhin Atamov, Ayhan 49th Mamaev, Niyazi Aliyev, Rafiz Hasanov, Asiman Gurbanli and Tural Agalarzade won the tournament in the team standings, Shakhin Atamov (-84 kg) and Niyazi Aliyev (-67 kg) became the owners of a silver medal and Nurali Aliyev, won bronze and became the first woman who managed to climb the podium.
