National team of Azerbaijan for the second year in a row was the winner of the European Championship. Azerbaijani karatekas who won the European Championship in Finland last year, and this year returned home with medals. Our athletes completely exceeded the German national team, winning the battle for the bronze medal favorites with the score 3: 0 and won bronze medals of the 50th European Championship.
The day before, the individual title, our karatekas won 3 medals - Rafael Aghayev (-75 kg) and Niyazi Aliyev (-67 kg) became champions, Ayhan Mamaev (-84 kg) climbed the second step of the podium, it took our team 6th place among 19 countries that have managed to win medals in total in the championship was attended by representatives of 47 countries.
